Norms - good or bad?

Should one feel inclined to do things because it's a norm to do those?
Shouldn't liking to be one's self be the norm?

It need not always be an aversion for a thing - rather a desire to get something in a way that one wants.
Something that makes you say "Yes! this is it" instead of settling for something "good enough".
But is it worth waiting? What if it does not happen at all? Should one let go of what is in hand?

Why do we have to force ourselves to make a choice? Scary part is the realisation that the push to make a choice comes from within, out of fear that we might lose what we have.
Does it at least make us feel content? No! The greedy mind wonders what if it had waited a little longer and what if the wait had turned out to bring something passionate?
Is it really a greedy mind or just an honest one?
